Help: Search Fields

You can search Die Deutsche Lyrik in Reclams Universal-Bibliothek by the following fields:

• Keyword
• Title / First Line
• Author
• Period

You can also use Search Options to refine your search further.

Keyword

From the Search page, you can use the Keyword field to search for any word or phrase contained within a document. To enter terms into the search box:

• browse a list of keywords from which you can select terms to transfer back to the search field;

  or

• type your search terms directly into the Keyword search field. Search terms may consist of either single words or phrases. You may type your search terms with or without capital letters as the Keyword search field is not case sensitive.

For example:

When searching in the Keyword field, you can use truncation to retrieve documents containing variations on a term. If you choose to search for more than one term, you can also combine them using Boolean and proximity searching.

Title / First Line

From the Search page, you can use the Title / First Line field to search for any word or phrase contained in the title of a work or the first line of a poem. To enter items into the search field:

• browse a list of titles and first lines from which you can select terms to transfer back to the search field;

  or

• type your search terms directly into the Title / First Line search field. Search terms may consist of either single words or phrases. You may type your search terms with or without capital letters as the Title / First Line search field is not case sensitive.

For example:

When searching in the Title / First Line field, you can use truncation to retrieve documents containing variations on a term. If you choose to search for more than one term, you can also combine them using Boolean and proximity searching.

Author

From the Search page, you can use the Author field to limit your search to the work of a particular author. To enter items into the search field:

• browse a list of authors from which you can select terms to transfer back to the search field;

  or

• type your search terms directly into the Author search field. Search terms may consist of either complete names or surnames. You may type your search terms with or without capital letters as the Author search field is not case sensitive.

For example:

When searching in the Author field, you can search for works by more than one author by using the Boolean operator or.

Period

You can use the Period search field to limit your search to a particular literary period.

The following literary periods are included:

• Vom deutschen Frühhumanismus bis zur Reformation (1450-1520)
• Das Zeitalter der Reformation (1520-1580)
• Barock (1580-1700)
• Aufklärung, Empfindsamkeit und Vorklassik (1700-1770)
• Goethezeit (1770-1830)
• Von der Spätromantik bis zum Realismus (1830-1880)
• Vom Naturalismus bis 1945

To enter dates into the Period field:

• browse a list of literary periods from which you can select terms to transfer back to the search field;

  or

• type your search terms directly into the Literary Period search field. You may type your search terms with or without capital letters as the Literary Period search field is not case sensitive.

When searching in the Literary Period search field, you can search for works in more than one Literary Period by using the Boolean operator or.
